All you need to know about your Product Feed
What is a Product Feed?
A product feed is data representation of the products displayed on your website. Save Energy, Save Money Pty Ltd (SESM) requires certain data in a specific format from you to be able to display your products and redirect customers to your site. Some of this data we require includes Product Name, Price, Product Page URL, Model number, and a few others that are set out below.
How does it work?
Once you have created your product feed based on our template requirements, you can provide us with the URL indicating where it is located, or you can email us the product feed. A bot reads the data in your feed and SESM uploads and maps your products into their respective categories and ranking of annual running cost position on the site. We link your products to our energy information database by model number. If you make updates to your product feed we need to be alerted so we can upload the most up to date information.
How do I create a Product Feed?
If you already provide a feed to other comparison sites you will be able to extract the required information and input it in to our product feed template. If you are not sure how to do this please contact SESM and we would be happy to help.
If you don't have a feed set up you might want to try set it up yourself. Setting up a feed is a matter of extracting relevant data from your product database. Most shopping carts are capable of this through an 'export' function. This exports the relevant information from your database to file in a format that SESM requires. See the required fields and formats below.
If you don't think you can do it yourself you will need to contact your web developer, ecommerce provider, or your shopping cart merchant. Tell them that you need a product feed created and pass on the specifications below.
All product feeds must be submitted in CSV format as per our template. Please click here to download template.
Instructions for using the CSV file are as follows:
